A Kids Book About School

~Does your child have questions about why they go to school? Are they just starting or feeling unsure about what it all means & how it works?
~Do they not see where they have control in their perspective of school?
~Do they wonder how school started and became what it is?
~Do they wonder what grades are/why & how we use them?
All these questions are addressed in my book.

Throughout my 12 years teaching, I’ve had many students ask these questions and start these conversations with ME! This is my gift to parents & students looking to have and continue these conversations about school. Students want to know why they have to do things, let’s have a conversation about it!

Chest of Drawers

Take this journey in poetry with a young girl coming of age and becoming a woman, in a world that never fails to have its beauty, its failings, and its confusion.

Each section includes a piece of artwork that visually captures the essence of the chapter.

Some truths are better told

Includes poem: “Discovery”

The First Line Poets Project (created by Emma-Jane Barlow in 2020) brought poets around the world together as they collaborated writing poems using the same first line. Emma-Jane selected authors and their poems to be featured in this anthology. Rachel’s poem “Discovery” was one of those chosen poems.

A note from Rachel: Being a small part of this big project will always be close to my heart. I feel fortunate to have had this intimate way to connect with people around the world during a time many of us felt isolated and disconnected from others.
